About STEP

Step Youth Resource Centre provides support services, life skills, and counselling for youth ages 14-24 in the St. Catharines and the greater Niagara Region. We are a non-religious registered non-profit agency that provides programs for youth that will engage them in activities on a range of topics and develop community connections. We have two paid staff members, a handful of fantastic volunteers, and an advisory board (see below) compiled of passionate, talented humans who sincerely care about youth in Niagara.

We strongly feel that everyone deserves someone who cares about them, and we strive to provide that at STEP. We envisioned creating a “Circle of Care” that would connect young people with resources, with caring mentors, and with a hub for accessing and navigating various resources available in our community. We value community partnerships to create a wraparound care for the youth in our community.

Our Wellness Community Connections program is an online support group for youth ages 12-17. We offer regular sessions focused on preventative mental health, wellness, and life skills topics such as self-care, self-compassion, grounding techniques, and emotional regulation.

We are pleased to be able to offer free counselling services with no wait list to youth ages 16-24. Our counselling is rooted in solution-focused and strength-based approaches. Appointments are one-on-one with a registered Social Worker.

STEP is client-led in its approach to services. We have the freedom and flexibility to offer programs and services based on client needs. If a client indicates a need for a specific learning or skill, we are able to provide that to them.

STEP is open Mondays and Tuesday from 9:00am until 6:00pm and Wednesday - Friday from 9:00am to 3:00pm.
