Our Team

Andre Barnett, RSW

(he/him) MSW & RSW
Counsellor/Supervisor

Andre is an experienced social service worker who has experience in case planning, community programming, employment coaching and more. Andre is passionate about working with youth as he has many years of experience with the Boys and Girls Club and other organizations.

He has a diploma in Social Service Worker from Seneca and an Honors degree in social work from Algoma University. Andre has almost completed his Masters Degree in Social work from the University of Victoria. Andre enjoys exercising and playing sports such as basketball and football. On his free time he prefers to read and listen to music.

Andre believes the key to a better future is in the ways we encourage, counsel and direct youth.

Vanessa

Counsellor 

Vanessa is a counsellor at STEP with a BA in Psychology and a post-graduate Diploma in Addictions: Prevention and Treatment. She is a Registered Psychotherapist.

Vanessa has experience providing individual counselling and group support to those who struggle with mental health and/or addiction. She comes from a person-centered and trauma-informed lens, and is passionate about reducing stigma and breaking down barriers for youth in our community.

In her free time Vanessa enjoys camping, hiking and spending time with her dog.

 

Tanya

Counsellor 

Tanya is an empathetic and compassionate social worker who offers over 20 years of experience working with children, youth, and adults within the educational and not-for-profit organizations.

Tanya’s educational background includes a diploma in Educational
Resources and Special Needs from Niagara College, a Social Development  Studies degree from the University of Waterloo, as well as, a Bachelor  of Social Work from Dalhousie University.

Tanya’s lived experiences combined with her education allow her the
ability to recognize the challenges you are facing because she has been  there too, and believes that recovery is possible!

In her free time, Tanya enjoys spending time with the people closest to her and going on long hikes with her dog by her side.

Tanya believes through empowering one another we can be the best
versions of ourselves!
